∙ blood and glory

They're based at an undertakers! Clearly stereotypes hold no fear for these people. ― George (Being Human)

Genesis.

∙ Vampires are created through one biting a human, and on the point of death, feeding them their own blood. The human then 'dies' for a number of hours whereupon they see horrible things as their body transitions from life to death and back to their body.

∙ It is normal for the one who created the new vampire to school them, teaching them what to do. Those that do not are considered harsh and their actions, not acceptable among vampires.

Lore.

∙ Vampires can survive in sunlight, although they tend to stay covered up. Those that venture out in daylight are often seen wearing heavy coats and sunglasses, even when it is not sunny.

∙ It is unknown if religious symbols affect all vampires. Some objects (i.e. a Star of David necklace or cross necklace) will have an affect on some vampires. If there are more vampires than religious items, then the symbol is usually too weak to have an effect. It is unknown because vampires stay as hidden as possible (for the most part) in plain sight.

∙ Although vampires can survive without blood, they have an intense/painful craving for it, especially when young. What satisfies them is the life that is in the blood as they drain a human. Packaged blood from a blood bank does not work as well and is not seen as a viable alternative.

∙ Vampires cannot enter a private building unless they have been invited. If they try it is like watching someone push against an invisible barrier.

∙ Vampires are humans at the point of death. They like to reside in hospitals, graveyards and funeral parlours as they are places where the connection between life and death is close. They are stronger and more intelligent than ordinary humans and have an enhanced sense of smell, their other senses may also have been heightened.

∙ Their image cannot be captured by film, camera or mirror - anything made of silver. (i.e. If they are walking into a room with cameras they will not be seen. They however do reflect in the glass on buildings or ordinary glass.)

∙ Vampires can sense werewolves when they are around them. It's the secent of 'dog' or 'wolf' and they are compelled to attack them even if they are unaware of the reason behind it. Werewolves and Vampires dislike one another and as such they try and show dominance.

Physical Death.

∙ A vampire can be killed by a stake through their heart. When this happens, they experience a human-like death which can include blood loss and organ failure before turning to ash, leaving just their clothes behind. However they can be ressurected through vampire blood. This process however drains the one(s) trying to ressurect the deceased and will leave them quite weak.

Weaknesses.

∙ Religious symbols can knock out a lone vampire.

∙ Vampires don't like sunlight although it is not lethal.

∙ A stake through the heart can turn a vampire to ash.
